Revamping weir cylinder Ottensheim power station

HAINZL took over the comprehensive cylinder revamping at the Ottensheim/Wilhering hydropower plant. After around 25 years of operation, the cylinders of the lower weir gate, which enable the lock gates to be opened and closed, were defective. The 10-metre-long and nine-tonne cylinders were dismantled using a floating crane. In order to restore the locks for shipping traffic on the Danube as quickly as possible, a tight schedule was necessary. The removable displacement transducer makes it easier to carry out servicing in the installed state.

Scope of the project

  • the replacement of the piston rods (in accordance with the steel hydraulic engineering standard),
  • the renewal of the displacement measuring system and
  • the cleaning and final quality inspection of the revitalized cylinders.
  • Renewal of the anti-corrosion protection and establishment of tightness
