Ascendor, headquartered in Neufelden (Austria), is known for modern elevator solutions “Made in Austria” and specializes in platform stairlifts and vertical lifts. The close collaboration between HAINZL and Ascendor aims to optimize the user-friendliness and safety of lift systems. As a long-term technology partner, HAINZL supports Ascendor from the initial concept through to the seamless mass production of its embedded system.
HAINZL collaborated with Ascendor to develop a coordinated end-to-end system consisting of embedded hardware and custom-developed embedded software. After a total project duration of approximately two years, the transition to series production was successfully completed. Today, the production volume amounts to approximately 1,200 control modules and 1,200 Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) per year, for which HAINZL assumes full responsibility—from embedded systems development through EMS manufacturing.
The goal was to develop a user-friendly embedded systems control platform that could be seamlessly integrated into the existing product line. In addition to a modern HMI user interface, other key requirements included voice output and the integration of an LTE module to enable emergency calls to be made directly from the elevator. The new solution was designed to enhance ease of use while also meeting the requirements for networked communication.
The project centered on a new control application specifically designed for use in stairlifts. As part of the electronics development, HAINZL designed a customized control board as robust embedded hardware. The following components form the basis for Ascendor’s smart embedded products:

The project began with the joint development of a concept. Following the successful completion of hardware and embedded software development, as well as precise embedded programming, the project transitioned to EMS series production. Among the technical highlights today are the voice prompts in the elevator, which enhance user-friendliness through the human-machine interface (HMI), and LTE connectivity for secure communication in emergencies.
